Darnton Elgee were appointed as Architects for this partnering project to extend and refurbish an existing primary school at Barton-on-Humber for North Lincolnshire Council.
The project was carried out via a PPC 2000 Partnering Contract.
The design is based upon the use of colour and soft curving walls. Corridors were omitted, instead they are replaced with a single wide internal street which links all classrooms.
The street is a place where children gather for story time and displays, it being an extension of the classrooms. Cloakrooms are circular, projecting into the street. The reception desk is oval in form, computer facilities and books sit side-by-side in the I.T./Library room.
